When was the last time that you had so much fun that you lost track of time?
Could it be that you are unable to think of a time like that? If that’s the case, you are not alone.
In our culture, it is very commonplace to focus more on getting things done and getting ahead in life. It’s easy to question where fun can fit into this equation.
But what if incorporating some fun into your life could be the spark that is needed to light you up?
What if you woke up each day asking yourself “what fun thing can I do today?” This may seem like a simple idea but it has the potential to create a shift in your perception.
Creating a new habit takes approximately 21 days. That’s only three weeks so not too long, right?
I believe that adding more fun into your day can lead to something so much greater than the simple act of having more fun.
What may start out as a simple experiment of adding fun into your day, may look quite a bit different at the end.
Don’t be surprised if you begin to notice a shift in how you feel about your life.
This could look differently for each person. It could be a little more spring in your step, a feeling of inner contentment or possibly being kinder with those around you.
Regardless of what it looks like for you, I am guessing that you will like that new feeling or state of being.
Adding fun into your day doesn’t have to feel like climbing a mountain and only being able to have fun when you reach the summit.
Trust me, I am very good at making things much harder than they really need to be!
As much as I want lots of ease and flow in my days, I find a way to create the mountain in my mind that I need to climb. So you can see that this is something that I am trying to change.
What I have found that is working for me is to ask myself “How can I make this a little more fun?” It may not always come easy to me but it is a good place to start.
Along with this, I want to give myself permission to have fun. To let go and have some fun like a child who has no concerns for getting things done or what people would think.
What comes up for you when you think of adding more fun into your life? Does it feel like something that you want to try? Possibly feel like it’s for other people?
This week try adding some fun into your life and see how it works for you. It could be something that you schedule or possibly a spur of the moment addition of fun.
Keep in mind that it’s not about what it looks like but about how it adds to your quality of life.
