Receiving Is The Gift You Give Yourself

If you have any kids in your life, you know how much kids love receiving. All you have to do is look at their smiling faces and see the excitement that celebrating a birthday brings.

What’s so great about kids (especially younger ones) is that they are living in the present moment and are not questioning whether or not they are worthy enough to receive.

It’s all about the excitement of living in the moment and receiving is just part of that. Gotta love that!

What comes up for you when you think about receiving?

When given a compliment, do you accept it easily or does it create some unease for you? What about when a friend gives you a gift for your birthday?

If receiving does not come easy for you, you are not alone. You most likely spend much of your time giving to others without even thinking about the importance of receiving.

Giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin when you think about it.

What would happen if one day everyone (including kids) decided they would no longer participate in receiving? The flow would stop just like that!

Sure that’s not going to happen anytime soon, but it is an eye opening approach to looking at receiving.

Receiving gifts is one of my personal challenges. It’s not one of my love languages so that could play into my resistance to receiving. Giving comes so easily to me, being on the receiving end is difficult. Being aware of my resistance, I have become more intentional about receiving, and shifts are starting to happen.

Being able to receive with ease can involve looking at your current beliefs and seeing what may need updated. What is holding you back from receiving with ease? You may find that just a small update can make it easier for you in no time!

Do you feel that now is the time to open yourself to be more receiving? It’s so easy to think “not now” but I challenge you to think beyond that. Living in the moment at ease with receiving from others will allow others the pleasure of giving to you!
