Happy New Year!
What does starting a new year look like for you? Are creating resolutions important to you, or do you feel they only bring you guilt when you don’t stick to them?
I have made many resolutions, I have broken many resolutions, but what I have found works best for me is to remember each day is a fresh start. If you want to take it one step further, each minute is a fresh start. You get the idea!
Doesn’t that feel so much better?
Starting a new year is a great time for reflecting on the past year. Taking time to do this gives you a chance to look at the highs, the lows (hopefully not too many!), and decide what you want the current year to look like/feel like. Is this the year to learn a new skill, deepen some relationships, or just be open to all the possibilities lying ahead for you?
One thing that keeps bubbling up for me is the importance of being my most authentic self (and sharing that person with the world). That’s so easy to say, but much more challenging to do.
You may be wondering what that even looks like, or maybe you have been feeling the same thing too!
The opposite of being your authentic self is like wearing a mask. You could call it a “social mask.” That mask allows those around you to see only what you want them to see. Similar to when people post their highlight reel on Facebook, instead of what’s really going on in their life.
Behind the mask lies everything you would not want the outside world to see…the part that makes you human!
Sure, life can be messy, but isn’t showing up as yourself more important? Just imagine what would happen if everyone would drop their mask and show up as themselves. Let the revolution begin!
You may be thinking “I’m all in!” or ready to run based on where you are in your life. I get that! Growth is a process, and one where small steps make the biggest impact (small hinges swing big doors).
When you’re ready to take off the mask, let’s chat about how I can support you to make that a reality in your life.
What’s one thing you can do this week to let your “true self” be seen by this world? Let us know in the comments below.
