As the days are getting longer, and the birds are getting louder, I’m excited for what’s ahead. Even though there may still be a snowfall or two ahead of us, this time of year has me ready to let go of the old and bring in the new.
Although I am ready to organize (I love organizing!) and let go of things that no longer add to my life, I can feel that it’s so much more than that.
Sure, I want to create more “physical space” in my life, but when I think more about it, what I’m really desiring is open space in all areas of my life to get to know myself better.
Maybe you feel the same way too!
This process takes much more effort than deciding what stays and what goes. We need to spend time digging deeper looking into our belief systems, being willing to be vulnerable with what comes up, and see who we are BEING in our lives.
Cleaning out my closet would be so much easier!
Our earliest beliefs are created before we even knew how to say our first word. Then along the way, simple everyday occurrences created beliefs that we’re not lovable, not good enough, or too emotional...filling up our mental closet with harmful clutter.
These beliefs like to hang out in our subconscious mind and show up any time we are doing something that would challenge them. They run our lives most of the time with us having no idea.
We can’t run from our subconscious beliefs, but we can work on reprogramming them. If the desire is there, and the willingness to dig deep is there, beliefs can be updated...our “closet” can be cleaned.
In other words, we move beyond thinking we’re not lovable or good enough, or whatever belief is holding us back in our lives.
The “work” to dig deeper and clear our clutter may not be easy, but the outcome can be a life that feels better than you ever thought possible.
Our past experiences can limit our thinking. We believe things are the best they’ll ever get. The truth is that our lives can change in so many ways if we allow the process to happen, find space in our lives by letting go of our old beliefs.
Yep, that’s where allowing comes into play. If you’re anything like me, you may have a hard time letting your life simply unfold. My inner beliefs include needing to plan and being in control. We always want to know what’s going to happen next, and we want to know the foreseeable outcome.
But that’s just not how life works. With this being an Achilles heel for me, I’ve come up with a quote to remind me of how I want to go through my day. The quote is “I choose to let ease flow through my body.”
This feels so much better than “I choose to be in control of my life and the outcome.”
Because that’s just not going to happen!
By digging deep, changing my beliefs, and choosing to let my day flow instead of controlling every moment, I can discover the extra space in my life to breathe and experience it.
